Biography of Kyle Shaw, WG’87

Kyle Shaw

Kyle is the founding partner and managing director of Shaw Kwei & Partners, an independent fund manager investing across Greater China.

Kyle has been involved in a variety of investment transactions throughout Asia, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and China. Kyle has been in Asian investments since 1989 when he was transferred from Security Pacific National Bank’s merchant bank in New York to Hong Kong and founded its Asian private equity business. In 1993 he joined the Tudor Group to open a Shanghai office for managing proprietary investments in Asian private equity. In 1999 he started Shaw Kwei & Partners.

Kyle has served as a director of several Asian companies including Flextronics International (Singapore), Fangda Group Co. (China), SNP Leefung Holdings Ltd. (Hong Kong), Suga International (Hong Kong), and China Vanguard Group (Hong Kong). He is currently president of the Wharton Club of Hong Kong and a director of the University of Virginia Alumni Association in Hong Kong.

Kyle received an M.B.A. degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (1987) and a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from the University of Virginia. He has lived over 21 years in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore and Taiwan.
